Conservation Foundation is committed to ensuring that youth education and engagement is central to our mission. A growing body of research indicates that children experience reduced stress levels and improved social skills as a result of greater activity in nature. Benefits also include increased concentration, greater attention capacities, and higher academic performance. ALL kids need connections to nature.
Next Gen Conservation is our two-pronged initiative, connecting ALL kids to nature, giving them WOW moments in nature, creating cherished memories, and benefiting from the peace and restorative powers of nature.
Our Youth in Nature program works with youth partner organizations to serve at-risk, underserved youth of primarily middle and high school ages from Manatee and Sarasota counties, giving them adventures in the great outdoors.
The new Nature Explorers program targets kids grade K-5 from the general public.
Both programs emphasize discovery, nature-based activities and games, citizen-science, and provide experiences that do not take place before an electronic screen. Connecting kids to fun experiences in nature promotes self-led discovery, builds self-esteem, and expands their understanding and appreciation of the environment.
