June 15, 2010 - Turtle Talks at Casperson Beach
Join us for "Turtle Talks" at 10:00 a.m. at the picnic shelter at Casperson Beach. Learn about endangered sea turtles and how we can help protect them in the water and on our beaches.
July 9, 2010 - Dartmouth's Big Green Bus at Bay Preserve
Students from Dartmouth College will be touring the country in a vegetable oil powered bus on a mission of climate change awareness and action. Plan to visit the Big Green Bus at Bay Preserve at Osprey from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
August 1, 2010 - Sea Grass Training
Seagrass is vital to maintaining healthy aquatic ecosystems, improving water quality, stabilizing shorelines and providing habitat for a variety of wildlife. Join us Saturday, August 1, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. fpr a seagrass volunteer training session with Amanda Dominguez, Environmental specialist with Sarasota County Water Resources. Learn to identify different types of seagrass and record descriptions of local seagrass beds in locations throught Sarasota Bay. Participants should have their own GPS and watercraft. Those who don't will be paired with those who do.
